just got my photos back from my tuesday shoot with a model…and WOW. this photo was taken for shits n giggles, and is separate from the project…but i want to post it because…LOOK AT IT! haha. i will post the series later today or tomorrow after i arrange them. it’s a photo narrative.
camera: Byclops
film: expired ISO 200 35mm
flash: blue + red + yellow [triple exposure]
this would look really nice mounted on a canvas. to get this shot, i climbed a tree, held my camera up in the air, and snapped the shutter open. i didn’t realize it would turn out this cool.

the newest member of my 35mm family:
the Minolta Weathermatic Dual 35 AF
I’ll be taking her out on her first dive tomorrow. I hope she’s still waterproof. I’m excited about the CLOSE-UP lens on this thing. and how I can see the shot through the viewfinder. shark photography just got easier.
i find it strange that out of all the art forms i’ve done, i’ve been able to connect with people more interpersonally and on a deeper level than anything else. the other arts [like dance, spoken word, film, fashion, etc] only touch people….its very uni-directional.
…but the other day…
i went to…
got the prints back from my camera that i just built. the film was loose on the spool, so i was very afraid that the photos wouldn’t come out. i’m curious what that overexposed area on the right is though…i feel like its either the pressure i put on the back of the camera [since the film was loose], or some of the wiring i added for the flash.
…regardless, for a first roll of film, these photos came out really nice and i can see the potential in it.
this is probably the ONLY roll of black & white film that i’ve ever shot. i’m interested in shooting b&w again, but it’s not my thing. i just really enjoy color. it stems from one of my favorite painters who says he doesn’t like limiting himself to using only a few colors, so he uses them ALL.
FINALLY FINISHED MY CAMERA!!! i am naming it “The Byclops”…after the greek mythological figure born with the hideous deformity of having two eyes. this is a work of art, if i do say so myself. the kit came with some crappy parts, so i cut and sanded down some material i found lying around the house…like a glass mirror from a make-up kit, a transparent memory card case, and the old thrift store cameras from previous posts. …also notice in the upper-right corner: COLOR GELS…meaning i can tint the color of the flash. i can’t wait to use this camera.
cinco de mayo in san diego via the Holga. this is me playing around with double exposures. i will probably do one last roll on the Holga then i will be switching to a new toy camera afterwards. i hope you enjoy the photos. :]
remember that camera i bought the other day? i took it apart to add the hot shoe to a TLR i am building this week. i’m trying to get out of medium format photography for multiple reasons that i’m not going to get into….but i still want something with an uncoupled shutter….for double exposures. :]
went thrift shopping today. I’m looking to build a camera, and figured it’d need a hotshot flash. the camera will be used for parts, while the flash I found will be kept intact. total cost for both pieces in working condition? $3!!!!!
